Hello friend,
Can you believe it’s been nearly a year since my last email? Crazy how time flies!
So, what have I been up to all this time, you ask? Well, I’m happy to report that I’ve been writing again, more or less consistently, though slower than I should as I am (once again) taking care of my mother.
With that said, I have some good news and some bad news.
The bad news is that, although I’ve been writing, the “Ways of the Wizards” trilogy is still on hold, and I still can’t say for how long.
The good news is that I’ll have three short stories published in an upcoming anthology.
Before I give out the details, I need to set the stage, so bear with me.
Back in the late 80s, TSR (the company that brought us “Dungeons & Dragons”) published a game called “Dragon Dice.” Much like they’d done with D&D, they decided to launch some tie-in novels. They announced several titles but only got to publish one before they were bought up by Wizards of the Coast, and soon Wizards decided to drop the entire “Dragon Dice” line (along with its novels).
Fast forward to 2000. A small company (called SFR) purchased the rights to “Dragon Dice” and re-released the game, followed by regular upgrades and supplements—they’re still going at it to this day.
Fast forward another 20 years to a fan of the game who also happens to be an author and runs his own small publishing business (TreeShaker Books). He hooks up with SFR and licenses the rights to develop more stories and novels set in Esfah (the game’s world).
Several titles in the “Esfah Saga” have been released since, including one that had been announced back in the 80s. There’s another one, the last one, that was announced back then under the title of “Time of the Champions,” that is now ready to be set loose upon the world!
Though technically still a novel, “Time of the Champions” was structured like an anthology, with five authors sharing the writing (including yours truly!)
A Kickstarter was launched yesterday to fund the project… and, I’m happy to report, it reached its goal within hours! But if you want a piece of the action—there are some really cool prizes in there—you can still hop on, as the Kickstarter will run for another 28 days.
That’s all for today. And, until we meet again, you’re welcome to check out my other Substack, where I post free short stories every month.
For those reading this on the website (or through the Substack app) who are not yet subscribed, please consider doing so (it’s free!) to get all my latest news delivered directly to your inbox (or app).
Thank you for your time, and be safe out there.
